Second motorcyclist killed in less than 48 hours

A SECOND motorcyclist has been killed in Donegal in less that 48 hours.

The man in his 50s died when he was involved in a collision with two cars on the N13 at Lisfannon, Burt, at approximately 10.30 pm last night.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Letterkenny General Hospital.

One of the drivers of the cars, a male in his 30s, was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry with what were described as minor injuries.

This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to contact Buncrana Garda Station on 074-9320540, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

The incident occurred just one day after Mr Hugh Shalvey (34) died following a collision between his motorbike and a jeep and trailer at Oakfield, Demesne, at around 4 pm on Wednesday.

A native of Killymarley, County Monaghan, he was married to well-known local woman Edel O’Donnell. He is expected to be laid to rest after funeral Mass in St Eunan’s Church, Raphoe, tomorrow.
