Donegal 1-10 Wicklow 1-11
Donegal suffered a second defeat in as many games in the Christy Ring Cup as they lost by a point to 14-man Wicklow in O’Donnell Park.
In a low scoring affair, Donegal led by 0-6 to 0-5 at the break, four coming from Gerard Gilmore and one each from Declan Coulter and Ruairi Campbell, but they had eight wides at half-time.
Campbell and Coulter added another point each along with Liam McKinney as it was 0-9 apiece on 50 minutes before Wicklow hit the net through full forward Padráig Doyle, taking his tally to 1-5.
But a second yellow for Jack Phelan gave Donegal a lifeline with 25 to play and they got back level through a Luke White penalty.
But they wouldn’t score in the final ten minutes as a contentious free from Padráig Doran put the Garden County ahead.
Kevin Kealy had a goal chance saved and in the final seconds Coulter’s ’65 from out wide dropped short and a free out was given, as Donegal also ended with 14 as Conor Gartland received a red card.
