At around 7:30 am on Saturday morning, the remains of man were discovered at the popular Strandhill beach, outside Sligo town, a by a person out walking.

The Fanad search was ‘suspended’ the same day.

However, Speaking to the Donegal News yesterday, Garda Superintendent Eugene McGovern declined to comment on speculation that the Sligo remains are that of Mr Martin.
