DONEGAL Film Office will be hosting a night of short shorts in Century Cinemas in Letterkenny on Thursday to celebrate the work of students from Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT).
Cormac O’Kane from the School of Design at LYIT believes that having the Donegal Film Office on board to shine the spotlight on the collection of their recent graduates’ work is a great tribute to work of the students and is important in raising the profile of the creative talent emerging from LYIT.
Short Shorts is a collection of animation, film and motion graphics work and the showcase will feature a diverse range of work, from drawn animations of a struggling artist’s battle with an errant fly to a computer animated love story, from advertisements for fruits drinks to protests for the arts and trailers for films from mythological tales to night-time coffee shops, this screening showcases the wealth of talent in the North West.
Donegal Film Office which is based within Donegal County Council proactively promotes Donegal as an ideal location for film production and acts as the main resource for filmmakers in Donegal and those who wish to film in Donegal from all over the world.
The Film Office works in cooperation with FÍS (screen Ireland) helping filmmakers to find locations, cast and crew, technical services and local service providers and according to Aideen Doherty Manager of the Donegal Film Office having this type of talent emerging from LYIT especially in the area of animation, film and motion graphics is a massive bonus for the county.
“LYIT’s School of Design is at the top of their game when it comes to nurturing film talent and to have this type of facility in Donegal and indeed in the region is a massive bonus when promoting Donegal to filmmakers. Local talent is often a key criteria when deciding on a location for film and the Donegal Film Office is delighted to be working with both LYIT and Century Cinemas in hosting this showcase event.”
The showcase will take place in Century Cinemas, Letterkenny at 6pm on Thursday and everyone is welcome.
