There were no passengers on the bus at the time and no injuries have been reported.

The area and gardai have confirmed that while they are aware of the fire, there is no suspicion of foul play.

Two tenders of the fire service rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control.

Traffic in the area was being turned back from the blaze which sent a huge plume of smoke into the skyline.

“I’m not sure what happened or if anyone was hurt. There was a lot of smoke and a big blaze,” one local man said.

The incident follows another fire in the early hours of Wendesday morning when a people carrier was gutted.

Gardai are investigating the incident which happened at the Long Lane around 5am. The owner woke to find his Hyundai Trajet estate on fire.

The vehicle was parked in the driveway of the house belonging to the owner. It is believed the fire was malicious.
