A SCHOOL in west Donegal is offering a €2,000 bursary to students starting this September, in a bid to boost enrolment for 2025.
Scoil an Aingil Choimhéadaí in Keadue has launched the initiative for three Junior Infant pupils enrolling from outside the school’s catchment area. The Board of Management said they recognise that travel costs may be a consideration for families living further afield.
“This bursary is intended to help alleviate that burden,” they said.
Pupils enrolling in classes other than Junior Infants may also be considered for a partial bursary, subject to availability and individual circumstances.
The small school, situated between the fishing villages of Burtonport and Kincasslagh, recently featured in the Donegal News following its transition to a Gaelscoil.
Staff and parents have been working tirelessly to promote the benefits of Irish-medium education, as part of a heartfelt effort to revive the native language within their community.
“At Scoil an Aingil Choimhéadaí your child will thrive through Irish-medium education – gaining bilingual fluency, stronger thinking skills and academic confidence,” explained Principal Anne Marie Uí Icí.
As part of their efforts to attract more pupils, the school is also promoting its morning club, which opens at 8.20am, and its afterschool service, which runs until 6pm daily, both set up to support working families.
