Donegal County Council is asking the public to come forward with ideas on how best to enable creativity in every community.
This is part of the Councils’ plans to prepare a 5 year Culture and Creativity Plan that will form an important part of the government’s Creative Ireland Programme.
“We want to hear thoughts and suggestions that will help us prepare a bespoke Culture & Creativity Plan for County Donegal” said Eileen Burgess, Divisional Manager for Cultural Services in the Council.
“We would especially like to hear your thoughts and suggestions regarding ‘Enabling Creativity in Every Community’ and how creative approaches and imaginative thinking can make our culture better understood, fully appreciated, more engaging, widely practiced, more relevant, promote best practice, support jobs, attract visitors and deliver what is needed locally.”
The Creative Ireland Programme envisages that every person living in Ireland will have the opportunity to fully realise his or her creative potential (creative.ireland.ie).
A series of public meetings will take place from 7.00 to 8.30pm as follows:
Central Library Letterkenny
Monday 25 September
Carndonagh Public Service Centre
Wednesday 27 September
Donegal Town Public Service Centre
Thursday 28 September
Balor Arts Centre, Stranorlar
Tuesday 3 October
Leabharlann Phobail Ghaoth Dobhair
Wednesday 4 October
Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings and their purpose is to raise awareness of the Creative Ireland initiative and to seek input as to the priorities for consideration in the five year plan.
Discussion on the night will focus on the principal needs of the Culture sector in Donegal and creative or imaginative solutions that could be put in place to address them and how individuals / groups can help to realise this potential.
