Saints reject safety concerns

Seamus Coleman started his career with St Catherine's

BY HARRY WALSH
ONE of the top junior soccer clubs in Donegal has rejected concerns raised about the safety of their pitch by a referee after a recent match.

Emerald Park, home to First Division club St Catherine’s, was criticised by match referee Vincent McLoughlin following a league game with Donegal Town.

In his report, the referee raised concerns about the position of the side line and dug-outs in relation to their position in front of the main stand at Emerald Park. He said they were dangerous, claiming that no protection is afforded to any player colliding at pace with either the dug-outs or stand.

The matter was referred to the Donegal League Executive who sent their Facilities Inspector to the ground last week.
