There is sadness in GAA circles in Donegal today with the sad passing of Connie Maguire.
The late Mr Maguire won an Ulster minor league medal in 1962 with the Donegal Minors.
He was a member and an accomplished player with Naomh Conaill in the 1960s, and won a minor championship in 1962 and a junior championship in 1964, and was a member of club’s senior team that competed in the county final in 1965.
Mr Maguire then left Glenties and joined the ESB as an apprentice in Letterkenny and became involved with the St Eunan’s club where he was an active and popular member until his sudden passing early this morning.
He will be forever loved and missed by his heartbroken wife Ursula (née Crawford) and his daughters Michelle Yeates, Caroline Spillane and Joanne Cahill, his sons-in-law, Kevin, Tony and John, his brothers Dom, Gerard, Enda, Patrick, Brendan and sisters Dolores Garden , Dympna Wordie, Colette Devine and Rosie Whelehan, his sisters-in-law, Fay, Elaine, Christine and Patricia, brothers-in-law Billy, Graham, Kevin and David, and Mary and Paul Kennedy and Gerard Luttrell, while he was the beloved grandfather of Emily, Michael, Rory, Rachel & Orla.
Reposing at his late residence, this evening, Thursday 12th September from 6p.m – 9p.m. and on Friday 13th, from 12 noon to 9p.m.
Funeral from there on Saturday 14th to St. Eunan’s Cathedral for 11am Requiem Mass which can be viewed live on www.churchservices.tv/letterkenny followed by burial in Conwal Cemetery.
