Sadness at passing of Cancer Bus Charity founder

THE FUNERAL will take place this morning in St. Columba’s Church, Glenswilly of Eamonn McDevitt, Dooen Glebe, Newmills, Glenswilly.

Known by many as the founder of the Good and New Cancer Bus Charity, Eamonn peacefully passed away on Saturday in Letterkenny University Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Setting up the charity 23-years-ago, Eamonn worked to provide free transport to cancer patients who needed treatment in Galway, dedicating his life to help alleviate the hardships faced by the people who needed it the most.

Expanding over the years, the charity now offers a drop-in service which provides support for people and their families who are affected by cancer as well as running a Good and New Charity shop in Letterkenny.

Eamonn’s remains reposed at his late residence on Saturday and Sunday and his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am in St. Columba’s Church this morning with burial afterwards in Temple Douglas Cemetery. Family time on the morning of the funeral, please.

Family flowers only, with donations, in lieu, to the Good and New Cancer Bus Charity care of any family member or Charlie Mc Clafferty Funeral Director.

Sympathy is extended to Eamonn’s wife Lynn, sons, James, Eamonn, Ryan, Shane and Tom, daughter, Cathy and granddaughter Ayda, other relatives and friends.
