THE manager of Donegal Rape Crisis Centre has announced she is leaving her role after nine years.
Marina Porter revealed she was resigning as manager of the local service on Friday in an online post, in which she also paid tribute to her courageous clients.
Ms Porter said it was her “absolute privilege and honour” to get to know each and every client of Donegal Rape Crisis Centre.
She said she was moving on as she “was at the stage in her life where it was time for change”.
Two interim managers have been appointed to take her place as another managerial appointment is expected to follow.
Writing on social media, Marina said: “Thanks to all at Donegal Rape Crisis Centre for the past nine years, so very proud of the work we did together and wishing everyone the best moving forward as a vital service.
“I have resigned and wishing the very best and most gratitude to our clients and their loved ones for their trust.”
Ms Porter said she was “forever humbled” to have been entrusted by all those who shared his utmost pain with her.
“Wishing everyone healing and strength moving forward. It has been my absolute privilege to share with you all. Wishing you all healing and a wonderful ever after. Thank you all for your trust and confidence. It’s been my absolute privilege and honour to get to know each one of you.”
Meanwhile, a spokesperson from the centre described Ms Porter as an “invaluable member of our organisation” in the post, adding: “She will be missed by our Board of Management, staff and clients.”
Donegal Rape Crisis Centre provides free counselling, therapeutic sessions and information services to individuals aged 12 and upwards who are affected by sexual violence.
