Saddling up for Ray Community Centre

A team of National Broadband Ireland (NBI) cyclists have embarked on a 100k round trip as part of a fundraiser to support digital learning programmes at the Ray Community Centre.

The group’s efforts have raised €1,000 which will be channelled to the centre via NBI’s support of the RISE Community Fund.

Ray Community Centre offers a wide variety of community activities with an onsite digital hub, a physical activity hub and a woodland play area.

The funding will be used to support delivery of digital learning programmes to build technological awareness across the community so that children and adults can learn the benefits of technology and its safe use.

Chief Marketing Officer with NBI, Tara Collins, said, “NBI’s high-speed fibre network is all about opening up limitless opportunities for rural communities all around Ireland.

“The RISE Community Fund, established by NBI Chairman David McCourt, is aimed at addressing the digital divide by providing grants for local businesses, community groups and social enterprises to enhance their digital strategy.

“I am delighted that the NBI team has put in this personal effort to raise funds to support the Ray Community Centre to help deliver digital learning. This has never been more important as our country is fast becoming one of the most connected countries in Europe as NBI progresses the rollout of the National Broadband Plan.”
