Ryan McHugh has been named as the Footballer of the week after his standout performance in Killarney against Kerry.
The Kilcar man led the charge in the Kingdom from his early two-pointer. He would add a couple of more scores in the second half to finish with 0-5 and he had little difficulty with Cillian Trant or Ruairi Murphy.
With just the three games on over the weekend, Donegal had five men named in the Team of the Week, with Eoghan ‘Ban’ Gallagher and Brendan McCole named in the full back line, Shane O’Donnell in the half forward line and Conor O’Donnell named at corner forward.
McHugh was nominated for Player of the Week along with Laois midfielder Damon Larkin and Wicklow’s Kevin Quinn, but the Donegal man came out on top by a landslide, receiving 3,584 votes compared to a combined 2,088 for the other two players.
