RSA child car seat checking service returns to Donegal

THE Road Safety Authority’s (RSA) child car seat checking service ‘Check It Fits’ is returning to Donegal next week.

The free service offers parents and guardians reassurance that their child is safe while travelling in the car.

The RSA will be in Buncrana on Tuesday, July 25 from 10am to 5pm at Kavanagh’s SuperValu on the Cockhill Road. On Wednesday, July 26 during the same times they will be at Babyzone & Smyths Toys, Letterkenny Retail Park, Unit 16, and on Thursday, July 27 they will travel to SuperValu in Donegal Town.

Finally on Friday, July 28 the ‘Check It Fits’ service will visit Kavanagh’s SuperValu, Dungloe again from 10am to 5pm.

The RSA has found that over half of child car seats (56 per cent) checked by the service were incorrectly fitted and needed some type of adjustment to make them a safe fit. If a child’s car seat isn’t fitted correctly, it could lead to a serious or fatal injury in the event of a collision.

This is a walk-in service and no appointment is needed.
