A group of determined Finn Valley men and woman are nearing the end of what has been a unique charity challenge.
The Pro-Fitness gym members in Ballybofey have, for the past month, been ‘rowing the Finn’ to raise funds for the three North West 10K charities – Donegal Diabetes Parents Support Group, The No Barriers Foundation, Donegal Branch of Spinda Bifida & Hydrocephalus.
128km is the magic target each participant has been striving to reach. On indoor rowing machines, 50 individuals have been busy putting in the metres morning, noon and night in their respective bids to hit the magic number.
The final week has now arrived. To mark the culmination of those brilliant efforts, Highland Radio will broadcast live from the Pro-Fitness suite this Friday from 2.30pm until 5 as our rowers edge closer to the finishing line. And everyone is welcome to pop in and show support. From 11am through to 2pm we will have tea and coffee supplied by the Hatters Tea Room.
A raffle is also taking place with more than 40 prizes donated by local businesses, plus a €1,000 cash prize. Anyone looking to buy a line or two can still do that simply by contacting one of the rowers or calling into gym.
On Sunday, April 24, Pro Fitness will also be holding a 5k walk, jog or run. That gets under way at 9.30am sharp. To make a donation, or to register for the 5k, simply log onto any of Pro Fitness’ social media presences.
