Anthony Gorman’s Rovers side started the better and almost opened the scoring in the third minute after Kevin McGrath’s cross was headed just wide of the post by Peter McGlynn.

Bonagee’s best chance in first half fell to front man James Gibson, who’s powerful header was well saved by Jason Quinn in the visitors nets, but the best chance of a goal in the opening 45 fell to Rovers Kieran McPherson. McPherson found himself one on one with Bonagee’s net minder Gary McDaid, but his attempted lob went inches over the crossbar.

The opening goal was scored in the 75th minutes thanks to Rovers midfielder Kevin McGrath. One of Gorman’s substitutes – Paddy Diver, crossed the ball from the right wing into the Bonagee box, which eventually fell to McGrath , who coolly side footed the ball into the bottom corner of McDaid’s net.

Diver was again involved in their second goal which came in the 85th minute. His pin-point pass found McPherson one on one with McDaid again, but this time he made no mistake with an neat finish and Kevin McGrath scored within a minute of that goal after being put through by Jason Doherty.

And with the icing was put on the victory in the 88th minute when man of the match, Kevin McGrath scored his second of the afternoon from 14 yards out after good play from McPherson.
