Round one to pensioner in David V Goliath battle

BY KATE HEANEY

A LETTERKENNY pensioner vowed this week to continue her battle against a company controlled by Donegal Creameries plc to protest her right of way across the Oatfield factory site she has enjoyed for decades.

It emerged in the High Court on Monday that over the past six months as the fate of the Oatfield Sweet Factory and staff hung in the balance, below the radar a David and Goliath struggle has been playing out between Ms Ruth McKinney and Zopitar Ltd., a subsidiary company of Donegal Creameries.

It was suggested this week that all that had been keeping the Oatfield factory in production over the past six months was the resistance mounted by Ms McKinney to the case taken against her on behalf of the Creameries.
