LETTERKENNY Rotary Club was delighted to welcome District Governor, Seamus Parle and his wife Carmel to their weekly lunch in the Station House Hotel, last week.
The Island of Ireland is a single District in Rotary International and Letterkenny Rotary is one its 67 clubs.
Therefore it was an important day for the Club to have the District Governor attend their meeting.
Rotary International is active in encouraging women participation in the organisation and at present the Letterkenny Club has a female membership of ten in a club with a membership of over 30.
The Letterkenny Club recently marked International Woman’s Day with a lunch and guest speaker Canon Judi McGaffin.
Each year the club encourages local schools to plant purple crocus corms to celebrate World Polio Day in specially prepared gardens, (purple being symbolic of the dye colour used to signify that a child has received the Polio vaccine), thereby increasing awareness of Rotary’s success in the eradication of Polio.
Meanwhile, the club’s monthly Confidential Shredding service which is in aid of Donegal Down Syndrome will take place in Letterkenny Shopping Centre, on Friday, March 28 in association with Universal Shredding Company from 10.30am-12 noon.
