Rosses Community School given go-ahead for extension

Rosses Community School has been given the go-ahead for a 650m2 extension.

Local election candidate, Evelyn Sweeney says the Department of Education has confirmed to her today the details of the major project at the college which involves the addition of Special Education Needs base at the Dungloe campus.

The extension to the school includes three new Special Education Needs classrooms with an assisted user toilet/shower block.

“This is fantastic news for Dungloe, the teachers and pupils at the school and for the wider community,” said Ms Sweeney.

“However the works will not stop there. There will also be a practical activity room, a multi-sensory room, an office, staff toilets and a store room.

“Outside there will be a sensory garden, a secure hard and soft play area and nine additional car parking spaces.

“The idea of the design will be to add the new structure to the existing building so it’s all part of the main school building which is at the heart of the inclusive ethos of the school.”

Ms Sweeney, a Fine Gael candidate in the Glenties Electoral Area on May 24th, added: “I want to congratulate the school on their successful application to the Department of Education and Skills and for their vision of the future at Pobalscoil na Rossan. I also want to pay tribute to the Department officials who have worked on this application thus far.

“We are in a fortunate position to have Donegal TD Joe McHugh as our Minister for Education and Skills who has been visiting schools throughout the county, listening to the issues of concern and working with education partners and stakeholders.

“Nuacht ar doigh dó Phobalscoil na Rosann ar an Chlochan Liath. Ag súil go mór leis an tógra sea a fheiceál ag dul chún cinn.”
