Rory Gallagher Festival postponed until 2022

THE organisers of the Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival have confirmed they are postponing until 2022.

The annual rock and blues festival was scheduled to go ahead between June 3 and June 6  3rd – 6th June 2021 owever the organising committee has moved to defer the event in the interest of safety and to provide clarity to both its audience and to the accommodation and business sector in South Donegal.

Festival Chairperson Barry O’Neill said, “We have consulted continuously with the national tourism authority, taken all the best advice available to us and while it may seem a difficult decision, it is the correct course of action to take and to provide clarity. A huge number of the festival attendees come from overseas, they have travel and accommodation booking commitments and to delay the inevitable would be unfair.

“We have a significant loyal international audience and have bookings from over 23 countries worldwide and taking the decision now is in everybody’s interest, for the visitors and the local communities safety. The roll-out of the vaccine is great news for society and we are confident that come next year the festival experience will be the same as what it was previously.”

All Tickets purchased will remain valid for the rescheduled dates in 2022. Ticket holders have been contacted and all details and options are detailed directly to them with refunds also available on request.

Barry O’Neill added, “We wish everybody well at this time. It has been a very difficult time for the arts and festivals sector, particularly for the musicians, artists, production providers and for small local economies that depend on the massive economic benefits from the staging of festivals. We thank our loyal audience for the support they have shown to the Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival, they have been tremendous in understanding the situation each time we have had to defer the festival and we look forward to welcoming everybody back to Ballyshannon between June 2 and 5 next year.”
