Roma McLaughlin has returned to Shelbourne in the Women’s National League.
The Greencastle native played for the Reds in 2017 and 2018 before moving to the US as she spent four years at the Central Connecticut State University where she played with the college football team, the Blue Devils.
The 25-year-old returned from the States last January as she joined Danish side Fortuna Hjørring but has returned as they look to push for the title once again.
Shelbourne won the title in 2021 and 2022 but were denied a famous three-in-a-row as they finished second in 2023, six points behind Peamount United, while they also lost the FAI Cup final on penalties to Athlone Town.
McLaughlin said on her return: “I’m very excited to be coming back to Shels. I’m familiar with a lot of the girls from my last time at Shelbourne and it’s a really great group of people. I think there’s real potential in this team and with the new coaching staff coming in. I’m grateful that I get to be a part of that and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
