A garda spokesperson offered all winners and nominees their sincerest congratulations and very best wishes for the future.

“They all deserve our applause as they all have achieved great things whether it be through helping within their community or overcoming personal challenges. They are all to be commended and it is fantastic to see the youth getting recognition for all the good that they do within our society.

“We wish to extend our thanks to Judge Éiteáin Cunningham, to the Joint Policing Committee and to Cllr Gerry Mc Monagle for helping to make this year’s ‘Donegal Garda Youth Awards’ a success.

“We also wish to say a sincere word of thanks to our new sponsor this year, Supermacs Ireland. We thank them for their generosity and support. Thank you to John and all at the Abbey Hotel for so generously providing the venue for our ceremony.”

A message of support endorsing the awards was received from current senior Donegal GAA Manager Jim McGuinness and Garda Shaun Patton (goalkeeper).
