Roisín sings for Diabetes

Roisín Ní Ghallachóir who has recorded a charity single.

A YOUNG singing talent from Gaoth Dobhair has released her version of an old traditional folk song to raise funds for a charity very close to her heart.

Roisín Ní Ghallachóir (11) from Derrybeg recorded the song Mo Shean Dhun na nGall this summer at Seamus McGee’s studio in her native parish.

The daughter of Vinny and Sally Gallagher has already sold €1,000 worth of CDs and this Sunday, October 21, she will be making a cheque presentation to Danny McDaid, Chairman of the Donegal Diabetic Federation, at the Mt Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny, 2.30pm.

It was first discovered that Roisín had diabetes when she was six years old and during the summer she decided she wanted to raise funds for the Donegal charity.

Olympian Danny McDaid, who has been heavily involved with the charity, as well as Roisín’s mother Sally will be speaking at the event on Sunday.
