Donegal 1-7 Monaghan 0-8
DONEGAL captain Roisin Rodgers pounced in truly dramatic fashion as she got the vital last touch to force the ball over the line from close range as Donegal grabbed a super stoppage time victory over Monaghan at Pairc MacDiarmada in Lifford.
With normal time having elapsed the punter’s money was on Monaghan to hold on for a narrow victory.
Donegal had been wasteful at times in front of goal and it looked as if, despite their best efforts, they were going to be defeated.
But the awarding of a late, late free gave hope as Donegal trailed by 0-8 to 0-7 and up stepped Susie White to land the free into the goalmouth and in the scramble that ensued Rodgers showed tremendous determination as she flung herself forward to get the vital connection and give Donegal victory.
