Robber arrested in Kilmacrennan

 

A GARDA operation led to the arrest of a suspected burglar in Kilmacrennan this morning (Friday) as he fled empty handed from the home of an elderly pensioner.

A garda spokesperson in Milford confirmed they are investigating a burglary which occurred at approximately 3.45am this morning in Kilmacrennan.

A man entered the home of a 69 year-old female who was alone in the house at the time.

He forced his way into her bedroom where he threatened her and demanded cash.

However, the would-be robber fled empty handed and was arrested a short time later.

The raider fled the scene empty-handed and no one was injured.

A 24 year-old man is being questioned at Letterkenny Garda Station.

The garda operation came as security is being stepped up in rural areas. 

There was relief that the culprit had been caught and that no one had been injured.
