The Donegal League bowed out of the Oscar Traynor Cup competition following a quarter-final defeat to the Mayo League at Swilly Park, Ramelton on Sunday.
It finished 4-2 in favour of the visitors who are back in another semi-final having lost out in last year’s Oscar Traynor Cup final.
For Donegal, it was a hugely disappointing day. They played so well in this game and dominated the first half in terms of possession and chances. But Mayo struck for the opener just before half time through Ben Edeh.
Kildrum Tigers striker Johnny Robb equalised with a fine finish five minutes after the restart. But Mayo were so much better in the second half and thanks to goals frm Oran Groarke and Kevin Kitterick, they were 3-1 up on 78 minutes.
Donegal struck again through Robb on 80 minutes to set up a grandstand finish. But despite their best efforts, they couldn’t find a third and Ben Edeh killed the game with his second and his team’s fourth goal in injury time at the finish.
