Road works begin this morning at Windyhall

LETTERKENNY’S ongoing traffic problems are not going to be helped by the news that new road works are to begin this morning resulting in the closure for long periods of the Windyhall road.

The works will begin this morning (Thursday) at 10am and Donegal County Council say the road will be open to traffic again in the evenings and overnight.

The works will continue on Friday and then again on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

The road has become extra busy recently, especially during the morning and evening times, as it provides an alternative route for motorists attempting to avoid the logjams on Kilmacrennan Road and at the hospital since the beginning of the recent roadworks there.

The council say local access shall be provided where possible as the works are carried out at Windhall.. Sections shall be opened when works are complete and accommodate through traffic when possible.

Diverted traffic shall be via Kilmacrennan Road to Circular Road to Glencar Road

Diversion for local traffic shall be via Long Lane

Diversion via Long Lane shall be opened when sections of the road are complete.
