JUNE is shaping up to be yet another busy month for the Arranmore RNLI, with the volunteer lifeboat crew responding to two emergency call-outs over the bank holiday weekend.
On both occasions, the lifeboat was launched to assist with medical evacuations.
First responders on Arranmore provided initial treatment before transferring the patients to the lifeboat, which transported them to Burtonport.
From there, they were taken by ambulance to Letterkenny University Hospital for further assessment.
These latest callouts come on the heels of a particularly demanding May, during which the Arranmore RNLI responded to nine separate incidents.
Speaking ahead of the bank holiday weekend, Coxswain Philip McCauley said:
“It is really satisfying when there is a successful outcome to our calls, and as an emergency service, we are on call every day of the year.”
