THE popular annual Bundoran RNLI and Emergency Services Day takes place this year on August 20 from 1pm-4pm.
The volunteer crew of the Bundoran RNLI, which is hosting the event, will be on hand to talk to the public about their life-saving work, giving people the chance to see their lifeboat up close.
Other emergency services including An Garda Síochána, the Irish Coast Guard, and the Bundoran Fire and Rescue service, and others, will also be displaying their equipment at the event.
The RNLI water safety education team will be on hand as well, providing safety advice and giving demonstrations and talks throughout the afternoon, while there will also be a pop-up RNLI shop selling lifeboat souvenirs and a raffle.
Shane Smyth from Bundoran RNLI said previous events had been well supported by the community.
“We hope to see plenty of people on the day coming down to see all the various lifesaving equipment and vehicles used by their local services,” he said.
“I’d also like to thank our emergency service colleagues who will be attending on the day and giving their time to give the community a behind-the-scenes look at what they do. If you’re interested in any aspects of local emergency services, this is the event for you!’
