A FIXTURES reshuffle will enable Kilcar, the Donegal Under-21 Champions, to take part in the Ulster Under-21 Football Champions Tournament.

There had been fears that the south-west club would pull out because of a clash of fixtures.

However, the Creggan Kickhams club in County Antrim have now fixed Kilcar’s quarter-final clash with Tyrone side Clonoe O’Rahilly’s for Sunday February 16th at 2.15.

Kilcar had initially been pencilled in to play the previous Sunday, February 9th. However, that fixture would have been in direct clash with Donegal’s National Football League game against Galway at Pearse Park, Salthill, the same afternoon.

Kilcar Under-21 captain Patrick McBrearty will be on duty for Donegal in Salthill as will team-mate Ryan McHugh.

Those potential absentees, coupled with the fractured leg sustained by Eoin McHugh whilst playing for Sligo IT last Saturday, had brought doubt over Kilcar’s participation.

Manager John McNulty called a players meeting and the remainder of the panel weren’t keen on traveling without their marquee men.

However, the redrawn fixture list means that Kilcar will take their place in the competition on Sunday fortnight.
