Donegal schools have been named in a comprehensive Scoping Inquiry report investigating historic sexual abuse within religious-run educational institutions.
The report, which has sent shockwaves throughout Ireland, documents over 2,400 allegations of abuse involving 884 alleged abusers across more than 300 schools.
Among the institutions identified, two Donegal schools have been singled out by survivors.
The De La Salle College, which closed its doors in 1973, was implicated by one participant who came forward with allegations of abuse.
Similarly, St. Louis Girls Convent NS on Station Road, Bundoran, was named by another participant.
In addition to these institutions, Scoil Cholmcille in Letterkenny, Donegal, overseen by the Presentation Brothers, was highlighted in the report.
This school was the subject of three allegations involving two alleged abusers.
Victims’ advocacy groups have expressed outrage at the findings and are now calling for the establishment of a redress scheme for survivors.
