FOUR Masters booked their spot in this year’s Under 21 ‘A’ Championship Final courtesy of a five-point win over Glenswilly on Sunday.
Conditions provided an additional test for the players in this contest, with consistent rain accompanying the strong breeze at the Burn Road.
Sunday’s clash was a repeat of last term’s decider and was similar in the sense that like last year, it was a real battle throughout.
The Donegal Town men were a point adrift at the break but they had the aid of the wind in the second stanza and made full use of it, finding three orange flags.
Speaking afterwards, Four Masters captain Conor Reid expressed that the pair of two-pointers after the restart gave the side a real boost.
“It’s hard to reflect after that game to be honest”, said Reid. “It was tight out there and we just had to knuckle down.”
“In the second half, we got the wind behind us and we kind of kicked on. We got two two-pointers at the start of the half which was a big lift for us and we stayed on top after that. We knew that it was never going to be easy coming here.”
Having won the competition 12 months ago, the Donegal Town outfit will now get the chance to defend their crown in the showpiece where they’ll face Naomh Conaill.
The two sides have faced each other in the last four of the senior and minor championships this year so they’ll be familiar with each other.
Speaking to the Donegal News, Reid discussed that the group will now rest, recover and be ready for the upcoming decider.
“The boys are playing school ball and college ball so we’ll get them rested over the week and keep everyone in shape.”
“It’s nice to be in another final.”
