THE Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny has paid tribute to local ‘Stranger Things’ star following her appearance on Friday night’s The Late Late Show.
Amybeth McNulty reflected on her role in the final series of Netflix’s hugely successful supernatural series Stranger Things, and growing up in Donegal.
In a very moving interview, the down to earth Letterkenny native paid tribute to her late parents, crediting them for supporting her in her dream to become an actress. She told host Patrick Kielty of how her parents moved to Canada ahead of her role in Anne with an E, about her life in the spotlight, and her ermormous online following.
She also paid thanks to both the Regional Cultural Centre and An Grianán Theatre in Letterkenny for their help and support in her early years.
In a online post following the show, the Regional Cultural Centre shared a montage of photographs of Amybeth McNulty alongside a touching message.
“Huge congratulations to Amybeth McNulty on her brilliant appearance on last night’s Late Late Show – and big thanks for the lovely shout-out to the Regional Cultural Centre and An Grianán Theatre.
“It’s been incredible to watch Amybeth’s career flourish, from her unforgettable performance in Anne with an E to her recent role in Stranger Things, and so much more in between.
“The RCC was delighted to support Amybeth as a young actor, assisting with audition tapes in her early years. We’re immensely proud to have played even a tiny part in her journey – and prouder still to see her talent and hard work recognised on an international stage.
“Wishing you every continued success, Amybeth,” the post states.
Amybeth was joined on The Late Late Show by broadcast journalist Claire Byrne, crime journalist Nicola Tallant, fellow Irish actress Charlene McKenna, The O.C. star Mischa Barton, and Irish American football placekicker Charlie Smyth.
