NEWTOWNCUNNINGHAM Cllr Paul Canning this week welcomed the bringing back into use of the old Health Centre in the village.
Renovations works are currently being carried out at the building which is located towards the northern end near the Garda Station.
According to the HSE the building will be used as an administration hub for HSE staff once finished.
Builders are currently working on the former health centre and works are due for completion next month.
Clinics are being held at the Primary Care Centre as normal.
Cllr Canning explained that the old health centre was only vacated when the new Primary Care Centre opened about two years ago.
“It was quite a small building which did not hold many people. The location of Newton is ideal and easily reached from every direction. I welcome any building being occupied which creates wages which will benefit the village,” he added.
