Red Hugh’s ready for All-Ireland semi

RED HUGH’S are hoping to go where no other Donegal club has gone before on Sunday and reach the All-Ireland Junior Club Final in Croke Park.

The men from the Cross have had a remarkable season to date, as they have already claimed the Donegal and Ulster Junior titles.

Seosamh Mac Ceallbhuí’s team then edged their way past Dunedin Connolly’s in the All-Ireland quarter-final, and that sets them up with a huge semi-final clash against Sligo champions Easkey in Ballinamore, Co.Leitrim on Sunday at 2pm.

An All-Ireland Final against Dundalk Young Irelands (Louth) or Beaufort (Kerry) in Croke Park on February 9 is the prize for the winners of Sunday’s match, and it would be a magnificent achievement if Red Hugh’s could qualify for the decider.

“We know we’re looking to go where no Donegal team has gone before – that fact isn’t lost on us.

“It’s a 50/50 game. We have a good chance of winning, but so do they.

“It’s a huge opportunity for everyone. Every player and coach dreams of stepping out onto Croke Park. I mean oh my God, it would be incredible.

“Jesus, you think back to May when you were getting ready for a league match in Buncrana on Saturday, and I don’t mean any disrespect to Buncrana when I say that.

“But this is just something you couldn’t even have contemplated.

“It’s just Roy of the Rovers stuff and it would be absolutely amazing if we could get to Croke Park.”
