Red Hughs hold off Convoy fightback to reach U21C final

St Mary’s Convoy 0-6 Red Hughs 1-6

Red Hugh’s put in an impressive first half performance and withstood Convoy’s late rally in the Centre of Excellence to reach the U21 ‘C’ Championship decider.

Pauric Gordon and Gavin McDaid put the St Mary’s side ahead in the opening ten minutes but that would be their only scores for over 30 minutes as Jack Bradley kicked 1-3 in the remainder of the half and Red Hughs went in five points up at the break.

Conal McDermott’s three frees either side of a Liam Carlin score had Convoy back to a goal behind but Bradley gave his side the all important four point lead.

And as Convoy wasted a couple of goal chances, they couldn’t get the green flag raised and McDermott’s 65th  minute point was only a consolation as Jimmy White blew for full time straight away after.
