Red Cross to hold meeting in Creeslough

A meeting will take place in Creeslough this evening to update the community on the ongoing efforts by the Irish Red Cross to assist those impacted by the tragedy and to finalise a plan to decide how to distribute the funding.
It comes after members of the public reported difficulties getting through to the Irish Red Cross phone number that was circulated locally for those in need of support.

A spokesperson for the organisation told the Donegal News yesterday that they are working on providing additional contact information with a new email and phone number.
To date the Irish Red Cross has distributed around €35,000 in immediate humanitarian aid in Donegal following the tragedy.
Secretary General of the Irish Red Cross, Liam O’Dwyer will attend the meeting in Creeslough Community Centre this evening at 7pm where he will meet with those impacted by the explosion and community leaders.
“The intention is to listen to what the needs are and how to meet them via the fund,” said Mr O’Dwyer.
The difficulties in getting through to the Red Cross number was shared on the Facebook page ‘Creeslough View’. In their post earlier this week they said many people from the Creeslough and surrounding areas who contacted them were finding it difficult to get through to the Northern Irish mobile number provided with some reporting they did not receive a response by email.

They later posted: “A Red Cross volunteer has been in touch to give us their private mobile number to pass along to anyone having difficulties getting through to the Northern Irish mobile Red Cross number being circulated. They have asked for people to message the Creeslough View who will then pass on the number.
“If anyone has any other issues they want raised or highlighted please contact us in confidence by messaging the Creeslough View Facebook page or emailing us on creesloughview@gmail.com.”

Mr O’Dwyer said following their meetings this week they will publish how the scheme will work.
