Recruitment drive for new factory gets underway

A RECRUITMENT drive for E + I Engineering’s new factory in Letterkenny is currently underway.
The company, which is headquartered in Burnfoot, has opened a new factory at the former Unifi site at Lisnenan.
Making an announcement on their social media this week the company said: “A new E+I Engineering factory has opened in Letterkenny with an additional 250,000 sq ft to serve our customers globally.”
There are a wide range of positions available both production and office-based including production operators, electrical project manager, mechanical and ventilation engineer, 3D BIM modeller, pre-modular project engineer and steel detailer among others.
The company, founded by Derry man Philip O’Doherty in 1986, was acquired last year by a US based infrastructure solutions and services company, Vertiv, for around $2 billion. E + I is a leading independent provider of electrical switchgear and power distribution systems.
Last October Donegal County Council gave the company the green light to construct a new entrance onto a road adjacent to the former Unifi site.
The Unifi plant, which made yarn and had up to 900 employees in the town, closed for the last time in 2004.
In total E + I has around 2,100 staff globally and has been in Burnfoot since 2004 where it employs over 1,000 people.
