Recruitment begins at new national pension authority headquarters in Letterkenny

POSITIONS at the new National Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings Authority (NAERSA) headquarters in Letterkenny have begun to be filled as the national pension saving scheme prepares to be rolled out.

NAERSA, which was established in Donegal in line with the Government’s commitment to balanced regional development, was formally established on October 14.

The new authority will be headquartered in Letterkenny with a staff of 24 by the end of 2025 and a further 18 posts by the end of 2026, a spokesperson for the Department of Social Protection told the Donegal News.

“Positions have been filled in a variety of ways,” the spokesperson explained.

Specific posts have been filled through a competitive process ran by PublicJobs, including chief executive officer, director of operations, head of corporate services and head of compliance and reviews.

In addition, posts including an accountant have been filled from existing public service panels and transfers, while the other posts will initially be filled by way of expressions of interest from Department of Social Protection staff.

Separately, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), also based in Letterkenny, has been contracted to provide the system and operational services to NAERSA for the administration of MyFutureFund.

“The establishment of NAERSA is a significant step to ensure approximately 750,000 workers, who currently are not actively paying into a pension through payroll, will have access to quality assured retirement savings from January 2026,” the spokesperson added.

NAERSA will administer the auto-enrolment scheme, MyFutureFund, facilitating people to save and invest for their retirement.

It will handle the bulk of the administration of the scheme by determining eligibility for auto-enrolment and enrolling eligible employees.
