Record breaking performances from Finn Valley athletes

Earlier today in America Finn Valley athlete Dempsey McGuigan got the hammer out six times beyond the current club, Donegal county and Ulster Athletics record he set in 2013 at Watford .
His new encouraging Series 65-44, 65.20, 66.15, 65.21, 65.80 and 66.39 – new record. He began an athletics scholarship with University of Miss in January and this sets him up extremely well for the season ahead. He was ompeting at Oxford, Mississippi in the Ole Miss. Invitational.

Other Finn Valley news is a new Irish shot putt record from James Kelly 16.80m, breaking the previous mark held by his brother John.
There were further national titles from Arlene Crossan long jump and Blaithnaid triple jump on what has been an exceptional day 1 at Athlone IT national underage champs Competition continues tomorrow. Medals also for Sommer Lecky long and high, Jordan Byrne, walk and Janine Boyle long jump .
Additionally Aaron Mc Glynn was a member of the Irish schools squad in Bolton which collected silver team medals.
