A Letterkenny charity facing questions over its finances says it has receipts for every penny.
The Good and New Shop operates a bus for cancer patients to and from Galway as well as a shop on the Port Road.
It was the subject of a weekend news article by a national paper which claimed that between 2015 and 2016, the charity received €815,000 but spent just €390,000.
The revelation has sparked calls for greater transparency but speaking following the story, the charity’s chairman, Eamonn McDevitt, said that every cent which has been donated is receipted and banked. Mr McDevitt added that the figures could be verified by their accountant and by Revenue.
The charity’s committee is to meet on Wednesday to consider its response.
