Re-set helped Ó Baoill ahead of club run

BY RYAN FERRY

DAIRE Ó Baoill says an opportunity to re-set was important in helping him gear up for the club campaign after a long season with Donegal.
Donegal’s interest ran all the way through to the All-Ireland Final where they came up short against Kerry.
Ó Baoill admits that it is ‘difficult to reflect’ on that defeat but he is fortunate that his club team are strong and had eyes set on getting their hands back on the Dr Maguire Cup this season.
Ó Baoill didn’t play in the opener against Glenfin but as team captain he was keen to get integrated back in after a break and he’s been an important driving force on their drive through to the final.
Now Naomh Conaill stand in their way and Gaoth Dobhair really want a 16th title.
“I think it was important to re-set,” Ó Baoill told the Donegal News.
“I think most of us took a good gap of maybe ten days to two weeks just to try and give the bodies a break.
“Emotions were high through a lot of the season, and you could have went from everything going great to being drained fairly quickly.
“It was good to get a wee rest but it was nice to be able feel my way back in then with the group stages.
“I think that’s one good thing about playing this kind of league format.
“You can offer some of the players a few days off and still be able to get after it come the second, third and fourth games and knowing that a couple of wins will get you through.
“I think it was a nice re-set to be able to leave that chapter behind and be able to push on now with the club.”
