Durack’s appointment was ratified at Monday night’s meeting of the Donegal county committee.

A sub committee comprising the county’s three main officers Seán Dunnion, Aodh Mairtín Ó Fearraigh and Cieran Kelly, as well as Hurling Board Chairman Colm Breathnach was appointed to meet Durack and discuss the possibility of continuing in a post he has held since January 2012.

“We discussed a lot of stuff and it was a very good meeting that we had with Ray,” Dunnion reported.

Durack’s appointed was proposed by Jason Ewing seconded by Elizabeth Doherty.

Dunnion said: “I am delighted that Ray is staying on with us. He has brought us to the highest level in the National Hurling League that we’ve ever achieved. He wants to see it through.”

Durack’s backroom team has yet to be finalised.

Durack guided Donegal to Nicky Rackard Cup success in 2013 and followed it up this year by steering his side into Division 2B of the National Hurling League. Having won Division 3A, beating Roscommon in the final, they then beat Fingal in a promotion play-off.
