Rathmullan footpath repairs on the way

JUST over €50,000 had been allocated for footpath repairs in Rathmullan.

The news has been welcomed by Cllr. Pauric McGarvey who had tabled a motion at last week’s meeting of Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District Council saying that there was an “urgent need” for the repair and upgrading of many footpaths in the town.

He said that there are a lot of elderly people using a lot of paths that are not fit for purpose.

An official reply confirmed the allocation and stated that the works “are programmed to be carried out in the near future”.

Cllr. Liam Blaney commented that if there is a lack of staffing for works, they should consider getting in private contractors.

Meanwhile, Cllr. McGarvey noted that the recently introduced one-way system in the seaside resort is working very well.
