A PRE-SCHOOL in Raphoe, facing an uncertain future due to the defective concrete blocks crisis, yesterday delved deep into its past in a desperate bid to ensure a brighter future.
Years ago, cracks began to surface within the walls of Raphoe Community Playgroup, signalling underlying structural problems long before the wider defective blocks scandal came to light.
Despite efforts to sort out these issues through repairs, the gravity of the situation has escalated to the point where demolition is now deemed necessary.
Teachers and toddlers will soon have to leave the existing building.
Former pupils and their families, connected to the pre-school since 1982, gathered for a large group photograph at lunchtime yesterday.
The unique picture was taken by a drone on the grounds of the school.
It happened as part of a campaign to save Raphoe Community Playgroup.
Parents and teachers are seeking government funding to build a new pre-school.
Also yesterday, hundreds of photos, detailing the school’s impressive history, were on display for visitors to enjoy.
In addition, a charity soccer tournament took place organised by Raphoe Town Football Club.
