Mr Harte, who has worked in Newstalk for over 13 years, will be responsible for the development of the Newstalk brand and content across all platforms.

The creation of this new role is in response to the continued and ongoing growth of the station which now attracts over 400,000 listeners every day according to the latest JNLR figures (30th April 2015).

The son of well-known retired politician Paddy Harte and his wife Rosaleen, he has been involved with the station since it first went on air in 2002.

Mr Harte said while he is very proud of the station’s achievements, it was very much down to the staff working at Newstalk. “I lead a very ambitious team of journalists and producers who are young, hungry and want to be the best in their field. It’s very easy to lead such a great team.”
