TOMORROW (Saturday) will mark the end of an era in Ramelton with the closure of A.M. Gamble Ltd.
For over 130 years the shop has been a landmark building in the heart of the town and has spanned four generations.
Andy Gamble has been the proprietor of the shop on The Mall since 1948 but due to dwindling trade the business is no longer viable and he has to turn the key for the last time tomorrow.
Over the years A.M.Gamble has been involved in the drapery, coal merchant, travel agent and furniture business. It was first opened by his great-grandfather Andrew Gamble who ran the store until 1897 when Daniel Gamble took over the reigns.
