Ramelton friends team up to help spread joy and positivity

Two Ramelton businesses have teamed up together in the mission to spark a bit of joy and positivity into other people’s lives.

Laura Buchanan Designs and Laura Ferguson from Little Grey Ceramics have combined their ideas to create three mugs paired with matching plates that have some words of positivity printed on them.

Their aim is to bring a little bit of joy to the simple things in life, like sitting down after a long day with a cup of tea.

Laura Buchanan started her business in Ramelton three years ago in her family home that was once her Great grandparent’s hardware and grocery store.

Although the shop was closed before Laura was born, there were still remnants from the shop that existed in the house which influenced the work she does today.

Laura works mainly on print art pieces and commissioned pieces.

She has two riso printers in her workshop and a relief printer that allows her to make lino prints.

Laura Ferguson, founder of Little Grey Ceramics, is a ceramicist and visual arts educator based in Ramelton.

Her art practice is inspired by just about anything and it’s often a snippet of the mundane that can inspire a whole new body of work.

All of her pieces are individually crafted so each one is unique.

Speaking to the Donegal News, Laura Buchanan said herself and Laura Ferguson had been friends for over 20 years.

“One day we were talking about designs and the collab just happened organically,” she said.

Laura B. put her creative flair on the mugs while Laura F. showed off her ceramics skills while making the matching plates.

Laura Ferguson said their ideas worked so well together.

“The idea of the quotes came as Laura B. loves a good mantra,” she said.

“In our collection we have three mugs along that are paired with matching plates. The inspiration was taken from a simple mantra ‘May I be happy, May I be peaceful and May I be free’.

“We loved the process of making this collaboration, it was really fun,” she said.

Unfortunately this collection is now sold out but the girls are working on a new product that will be hitting the website soon.
