Having already support 80s star Cyndi Lauper on her UK tour last year, getting to support James Morrison was another step up for the talented Lifford native.

“James had a lot on his plate during the tour, but I did get to chat to him a few times and he told me he was ‘digging’ my songs during the sound checks. He was a very pleasant fellow and there were no airs or graces from him,” said Stevie.

Stevie subsequently got to support the legendary Commitments on three dates in the UK, including one massive show for St Patrick’s Day in London.

He said: “They were just great craic and I got chatting to them a lot, Bronagh Gallagher and all her family from Derry were especially nice. Angeline [Ball], Andrew [Strong], Ken [McCluskey] and all the other band members were just really fun to be around.”

All the tracks on Stevie’s new EP, Shopping Centre Song (available on iTunes), were recorded in ‘bedrooms all over the land’.

“We recorded every song somewhere else, but they were all mixed and mastered in the one location and I have to say that I am very pleased with the final result and they all came together wonderfully,” said Stevie.

At Sunday night’s gig in Voodoo Stevie will be performing tracks from his EP including Your Face, Shopping Centre Song and Yours Truly as well as others such as Manchester Post and Genie. He revealed that he and proprietor, Jason Black, had a few surprises in store.
