THE reality of what the new Radiotherapy Unit planned for Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry will mean for Donegal people was revealed at a public meeting this week.
On Tuesday night, cancer campaign group representatives, medical professionals and members of the public gathered at Letterkenny General Hospital for an information evening on the progress of this new state-of-the-art facility.
With diggers due on site in Derry before the end of this month, the project is very much on-track for the projected opening date of 2016.
The project is costing in the region of €60 million, with funding coming from the Department of Health Social Services and Public Safety in Northern Ireland and the Department of Health.
